Border Regiment, Military Cross, Palestine

A pre-war style Service Dress tunic with buttons for the Border Regiment and Lt.Col rank insignia, holes to cuffs show the owner was previously a Warrant Officer. With some research from various sources the unique medal ribbon grouping shows that this uniform belonged to B.J. McAuley who served with the regiment from WW1 onwards. As WO2(RSM) with the first battalion he was awarded the Military Cross for actions in Palestine in 1938. Commissioned as a Lieutenant(QM) in 1940 he rose through the rank ending up as Lt. Colonel, having served in North Africa and Italy. Very good used condition, some research included.
